How I put 71-73 Mustang headers in my Bump

ok heres some pictures finally

driver side header vs manifold

passenger header vs manifold

driver header to radius arm member clearance,

driver side header - radius arm crossmember

driver header - steering box. plenty of room here

modification to front crossmember. passenger side had to be cut down completely flat.

passenger header to frame clearance.

passenger header-cab. theres more room here than it looks like. this is a bad angle.

i was worried about the engine mounts being in the way, but theres plenty of room.

heres why the front crossmember has to be cut down so low on the passenger side.

the transmission support crossmember has to be modified. i jigged it up like so.

cut it and put 4" tubes in it.

and here it is installed. however, i should have put the tubes slightly higher for better clearance of the exhaust pipes.

Looks great! Are you going to weld a plate over the cut end of the cross member? Maybe I'm a bit paranoid, but I would do that.

I thought about that, but decided against it since it would reduce clearance and really wouldn't add much strength to the stuctrue.

Good Job Prince (1). Not only has there been others asking for a 351C,M,400 but I assume what you did will ALSO show guys with 351W's what they can do. I have read guys saying the 302 headers won't fit on a 351W in these rigs. I think you just showed 'em what to do. Aces Buddy.

They fit better out of the box then I would of thought very nice. Definitely the way to go if you want headers in there. Will help others when they need to know what to do when it comes time for exhaust in there's. From the looks of the rest of your exhaust the truck will sound good.

It wasn't my idea, I got it from Hio Silver. He did it on his truck and I asked him about it. Showed me how it was done.

Here is a quick YouTube vid of how it sounds.

Indeed King 2. And thank you! There have been several of us with Cleveland's looking for headers. Besides shorties or poorly fitting dentside 400 headers that is. I saw a single post over on fordification that said someone overheard a rumor that some guy put mustang headers on his 400 4x4 in a 78 F-250 and they fit. Pretty slim, but that was the best info I had to go on. They do fit well with the frame mods.

I wonder if they'd clear a power steering box?

Sounds good to me. I was thinking of using flowmaster super 44s, but I really like the way yours sounds. What length glass packs did you use?
