My son has a 64 F100 2wd, w/ 292 y-block & 4 spd manual, long bed. He is thinking about converting it to a 4wd.


Is this even a plausible conversion or is he dreaming bigger than his and my budget?


I know I would be looking at a new steering column, new front axle, need a transfer case & suspension.


Any thoughts and or comments appreciated.

My suggestion would be to get a '61 - '64 already in 4x4 configuration. I would hazard to guess that restoring one would be easier and cheaper in the long run, and would be a much lower source of headache.

Just my opinion.

 

Converting a 2WD to 4WD will be very costly and labor intensive. And, where will you find all the parts to do this?

If you want an F100 with 4WD: 1966 F100 4WD has coil spring front suspension, uses the same cab as 1965/66 F100/250 2WD
