Excursion Coil-over conversion

Anyone try one of these kits before?
https://full-traction.com/detail.php...&p=2265&n=NULL

The folks that have put them on super-duty pickups seem to be impressed, just wondering if anyone has put one on an ex.

I think you should order and install and ket us know how it is.

Honestly are you setting your Ex up for desert running? Other options include Carli suspension and One Up Offroad. The 05+ axles can be converted as well for a coil spring conversion too. Some other members have started the process and from what I have seen on here its almost a bolt on deal.

Five thousand dollars for a 4.5" lift kit that uses rear lift blocks instead of new springs........WOW!
Sure it's a cool setup, but man I could do a lot with the $4600 left over after an X codes + shackle lift!

I only have 'vague' plans for my ex at this point, and the coil over kit is probably not in them unless I get a bunch of money from the rich uncle I don't know that I have.

I'd like to improve the off-road ability of our Ex without impacting the on-road manners too much, it is a DD and we will use it for off-roading and back-country camping. I've seen the 05+ stuff but I'm not sure how much those parts would cost me, the benefits of the 05+ swap would be the stronger 60 front axle and also the improved turning radius, which this kit wouldn't provide. My big two short term goals are bigger tires (with as little lift as possible) and a front locker, past experience says I can get most everywhere I want to be with just those two things.

I think this is true for 95% of us. I wheeled for years on stock springs, front level kit and 34" tires. Those places I couldn't get to, nor could my friends in smaller rigs. I hung back, smiled at their antics, then pulled 'em out later. Some trails are best seen on foot with minimal impact to the terrain. .

The ex will take us on many adventures with the family. Isn't that what it's all about?

This looks better than the old Skyjacker Z-Link kit. I wonder how much better the ride is? The magazine article said it was better than the '05 stock ride. Is it worth $5K? I'm kind of with Tom.

Bah. Save up more money and just go buy a Kelderman air suspension kit.

Funny - I've got that thread and 2 others that are very similar bookmarked already. I'd love to do something similar, cut outs and 40's

I think my ex rides pretty well already (for a truck) but I'd love the tighter turning radius and the true dana 60 front axle. The D60 has better locker options, and the better turning radius would be just as beneficial on the trail as it would be at the mall.

The kelderman kit is cool - and its actually cheaper. I like the idea of adjustable ride hight, makes it easier for loading and unloading. Wonder how strong the air bags are?

You can build an air suspension eqyivalent of kelderman for way less. My brother was looking into it a last year or before.

For that price I think you could do a full air ride conversion (front and rear)!

$4500 and you'd literally never see a penny back in Resale value.

Resale value? Who's worried about that....I plan to drive this beast until one of us is dead.

I think the point is there are FAR cheaper alternatives that offer the same results. $4500 that only converts the front end to coils is a waste of time and money. It'll still ride like a truck, you can change the sprint and suspension but in the end you're still running a solid front axle.

This was the reason I swapped to 05 coil axle. The better turning radius and brakes alone is worth it for me. My 4wd EX with 35" tires brake way better than my 2wd EX with stock tires, and turns just as sharp. I strongly believe in 05+ SD front axle and 08-10 rear spring swap.

Full Traction is too proprietary for me. 05+ SD axle swap, I have more suspension choices.
