I have an 08 Crew 4x4 5.4 with the 6 speed manual. I get between 15 and 16 on the highway.

It has been a while since I have updated this thread.

The truck is still running strong with no problems so far. Other than the not so great mpgs lol.

After I drove around for about an hour on the new rear shocks I ordered the bilestien front shocks as well. It rides so much better now!

Oh and yesterday I just turned over 10,000 miles on the new motor.

And of course here are a couple pictures

My lie-o meter on the truck stays at 11.2-11.3, hand calculated about 11.5 MPG. My truck is lifted at least 4'' on 37'' tires. So I'm sure the computer has no idea how far the truck is really going.

My old 2011 5.0L f150 on 33's got about 15-16 MPG's.

I test drove some 05-07 SD's and ended up in this one as i felt it was so much more comfy inside.

I calculate every tank, and only once have I gotten better than 10 mpgs. And for some reason or another my trip meter on the truck is only ever off by a little. Say I calculated 10.5 and it says 10.3

My 08 CC 5.4 gets 10-11 around town, 15-16 on highway.

08 5.4 regular cab, 3" lift, 35s, 3.73 gears, tuner, and exhaust I see 9.5-10 city and 13.5 highway. Stock I saw a best of 14.5 highway. Love the truck so I don't even pay attention to the mpg. I have a 93 Ford escort as a DD so that saves me enough money to enjoy the truck

I'm not sure why I don't get a little better mpgs, but I love my truck so I just grin and bare it every time I fill it up lol

I've heard that O2 sensors wear out. The don't necessarily throw an engine code, but they get dirty and do not read the O2 level properly. Inaccurate O2 readings lead to less than optimal fuel economy. Just food for thought.

They can also lead to premature failure of the cat's, as if the engine winds up running too rich, the extra fuel in the exhaust can cause it to get plugged up.

I had the cats flow checked recently and they checked out ok. I can't remember if I had the O2 sensors replaced when I did the engine swap or not.

I've heard something about the throttle body on 5.4s can get dirty pretty easy so I may check that out too.

If you are checking the throttle body, you should check the mass air flow sensor. If the throttle body is dirty, its a safe bet the MAF sensor is as well.

Does your truck have EGR? I am not real familiar with the 3V 5.4.

I would assume it does, I am not familiar with the 5.4 either lol. As of the moment it is not throwing any codes.

And yes I planned on checking the mass air flow sensor as well.

The thing runs like a top, just not good mpgs lol.

I love this picture

Wow so it has been a while since I have updated this thread!

Well I had bumped up my mpgs a bit by playing with my tuner until I added 500lbs of steel to my truck. I had some custom built ladder racks with a built in winch plate and winch. The racks are 2x2 by 1/4in thick steel. I have already hoisted out 4 elk with this set up this year lol.

Im sure I have done more to the truck latley I just can't remember right now.

Oh and my tonnue cover is for sale if anyone knows of someone interested, since it no longer will work with my racks.

Dude, nice! I love it. If I ever end up on a lot of land down here in the hill country and operate a high fenced exotics ranch, I'll probably do that to a ranch truck. Beats sending a front loader out.

Digging the ladder rack. I too removed my Tonnue cover. Much easier without it on.
