Just a heads up about the hydra if you have hid lights some trucks will stall out when you turn your lights on. I don't know if it is the same with all light brands or what but I have them and when the tuner is on and I turn my lights on about 1 in 5 times the truck will stall. if your on the highway it will restart on its own its like the key gets turned off then on for a second. I called hydra about it and all they said to ground the lights strait to the battery witch was how they always were so then they said they have heard of that happening and don't have a fix for it.

yea same thing will happens if you have it in 00 or bypass mode and switch to a tune and when you switch from a tune to bypass mode 00 you have to restart the truck for it to take effect. I didn't know this when I got mine and I read the instructions. I don't see how it could hurt it its like the key gets turned off and then on all the lights on the dash will flash and then it will be back to normal in about 1 second if your going down the highway it will restart automatically

Your moving at a good pace. It's not like you had all this stuff piled up for years. I don't like the sound of the truck shouting off some times though....

That ribbon cable is long enough to make it there?

I just put mine in today because I got a break from the kids. I used the straight USB cable but had to pull the PCM to do it. It will fit in the PCM if you install the chip at a angle to clear the side of the PCM. Once inside there is room but a 90° would be much better. Screwing around doing that I found it wasn't working . Pulled it back out, pulled the chip and discovered I knocked the plug off for the little switch box. Put everything back together and now it works. Deliantly recommend the 90°!!!

Trimming the head of the 90* jack worked perfectly for me. There is a lot of meat there to trim off and never go close to any wires.

You would think they would design it better, probably more set up for a SD then ours. The 'leave in cable' is the whole point of a hydra so you don't have to pull it every time to change tunes. Besides, the hydra holds fifteen tunes and they can be from different tuners.

And that all is why I went with it. The leave in vs what comes with it is bs at the price. The 90° cable is like 3$ from amazon..they want 25$ lol
I'm glad I asked.that is higher than giraffe beaver.

The ribbon cable i believe is long enough. I think I will just fab a little tab and try that location. I guess I will see how it obstructs the gauge views.

Its going to be close to get it up there Aaron. Tomorrow I'll take a picture of where I put mine and the ribbon is stretched. I don't care how long the usb cable is because I have an extension for it but to cheap out on the length of the ribbon cable is crazy!

There isn't any way to lengthen it either :-( another foot or two would have been glorious!

Has anyone considered contacting PHP to see if they will send a longer ribbon cable for the Hydra? I was able to use the ribbon cable the way it came, but I definitely would have put it somewhere else if I had a longer cable...

Also, I've been using the USB cable that came with my Hydra. I didn't buy any extra cables or extensions.. I just coil it up under the dash and ziptie it up out of the way. When I want to use it, I just pop it out of the zip tie and set my laptop in the floor board while I stand outside the truck. I always meant to get an extension so I can have my laptop up on the console, but I'm too lazy.
