1996 7.3 turbo
I have a 96 f250 with 5spd and 4.10 rear. it is completely stock and am looking into some upgrades. Dad and I have changed the flywheel from a spring flywheel to a solid one piece with a new clutch, pressure plate, and throughout bearing. Once that is finished I am looking into a pipe and intake just to open it up a little bit. I would be going for a 3" downpipe and what size pipe should I go for? other than that, would I have to get a tuner for this and an intake upgrade? I don't tow anymore, but would like to have a little more response and noise! let me know.

Alright man. Thanks for the input. Will these upgrades affect the motor? Cause any EGTs to rise or anything? They are saying the 5" pipe will cause some high EGTs and can burn out a piston in the long run. Other than that, what would be the reason to upgrade the injectors??

A 5" exhaust will not cause you to burn up a piston. Helping the engine breathe with upgraded intake and exhaust will cool it down.
Upgraded injectors = more fuel ... More fuel = more potential for power
As for intakes most guys run the 6637 mod. You can get a kit from riffraff diesel performance or you can build a DIY kit. I personally run an DIY Amsoil kit. If you want I'll give you the part number. The big thing to understand though is that the stock air box is not efficient no matter what filter you put in it. The other BIG thing is don't use K&N filters.
Welcome to FTE... word of warning, you are showing the first signs of PMS. PMS is only cured when your wallet is emptied.

PMS? Parked Motorcycle syndrome?
To keep this on topic....I did the 4" mbrp turbo back with muffler...I ordered and extra piece of 4" pipe from summit racing incase I decided to delete the muffler too.... I use it as my long haul vehicle so I didn't want to loud....
I added the 6637 intake but haven't had a chance to run it much as it is sitting on a lift waiting to have the transmission yanked and rebuilt.... d@mn automatics...

tow of the three I owned were not bad...
2000 Honda shadow sabre -hydraulic lifters so just oil changes and tires in the 60,000 miles I put on it...
and a 2011 yamaha fz6r...24,000 miles so far, tires, oil changes, a few accessories, some cables, and one valve adjustment...
Back on topic though....
I really like how the 6637 just slid in place of the stock air box...didn't realize I shoul dhave replaced the stock orange intake boots when I did this though.....
Thankfully they are pulling motor and trans in order to do my transmission so I will have opportunity to do up pipes, these boots, and maybe even intake plenumns.... I see $$$$$ signs
