2015 F350 Dually or wait for the 2016?
I am itching to get a new rig and love the King Ranch Dually in the platinum white two tone. I've been shopping them for a few weeks and am ready to pull the trigger. My 06 250 gas rig is paid off and I'm keeping it as a ranch truck but am on the fence about getting a 2015 or waiting a few more months. Does anyone know what the difference is in the 2016?

I would get a 15 while the rebates are good. Once the 16's come out the rebates will not be as good.

2016 will be the same truck as a 15 with a few minor changes. The 16 model will probably be a short production run with the new 17 coming out in early 16. Speculation of an all new body style in 17.

Rebates for outgoing models do get better, but Ford has gotten much better at limiting production. For any given line of vehicle we typically don't have overlap for more than two months. You might get lucky and find what you want as a leftover (better chance with higher ticket cost), but finding leftover XL and XLT can become a challenge. Also, Ford does not have it's models all end at the same time and it's not even the same for any given model year after year. If you wait till fall, there won't be more than a handful of 2015 SD pickups at best. Best selection and rebate lines are typically meeting up the month the new model comes out.

Out of curiosity, what are your and others thoughts regarding the rebates and incentives for the 2016 models when the 2017 comes out? That will be my purchase time frame. I am hoping for similar deals comparable to what my dealers are offering on 2014 F-150s.

Rebates will probably be similar to what they are now 4,500 to 5k. Dealers will stock up to have inventory for the plants to retool. They probably won't throw huge rebates at them in fear of running out of inventory before they get stocked up on 17's. If you get a Great deal on a 16 once the 17's are out, it will probably be on a trim level, color that is not as desirable.

I always say peak rebates with availability come about 1-2 months after the new model year come out. If you wait longer, the rebates may be higher, but you are less likely to get what you want. The cheaper the model, the quicker they go. The fully loaded stuff always sits around longest, but honestly, if you're spending $70k on a truck, saving an extra $2k and not getting what you want is pretty silly.

To get the best deals, order exactly what you want right at the end of the order cycle. Made sure the dealer puts price DORA on it and you'll lock in price and if the rebates get better you would be eligible for them. Make sure the dealer and you agree on a price offset from invoice and then subtract rebates, not just an out the door price.
