1969 F250 7.3l swap

Here she is hopefully will get to start soon I will be getting the motor and trans sometime this week. The motor is an 89 7.3 160k miles it had a seized ring and comes with rebuild kit new injectors and ip pump and a 2wd zf5 for $600. The truck is a 1969 f250 ranger with a 460 needs a distributor and carburetor with a c6 behind it $500. Was running when po sold the distributor because a friend needed it. I know the po personally so know it's the truth. It has been converted to disc brakes up front and a Dana 70 out back with 4.10's. The floor pans have been replaced and there are minor body flaws. The interior is pretty decent with new carpet and factory seat with a small tear as seen in the pics below the dash has not been cut for a new style radio so I can go back with the original style. It also has a new windshield and no cracked glass and the door seals look good and completely new brake system.

Cool, keep us posted on this swap. Questions about an IDI into a Bumpside come up once in a while and it'd be good info to have.
Love to do it to my '69 as well, but so much other stuff in life will most likely keep it from ever happening.

Well the po put risers in for the 460 and in my 92 and 90 they bolt to the same holes the only thing I will have to fab is the tranny crossmember for the 5speed hopefully I know I will run into something I didn't think of but that's what FTE is for

I was reading somewhere not too long ago that you might have to raise the cab from the frame a bit to get the clearance you'd need, particularity on the 2wd. Don't know if that's accurate or not though.

Hope not but thanks for the heads up this will be a pretty large project but if I do need to lift the body that would be a good time to box the frame

Henry Ford — 'Whether you think you can, or you think you can't--you're right.'

better get a powersteering set up for that badboy!
awesome truck!
i have a 71 F250 CS that i would love to swap, but its been in the family too long, shes staying stock.
i have a granny low box (T18?) and it looks like its not too far off from a ZF5.
shouldnt have an issue until you decide to throw a turbo on.

i would highly advise that you get a turbo now if you dont have one. atleast for mock up. youre going to need to do some clearance work.

may also need a custom trans access panel.

good luck

I think it already has ps since it has a small steering wheel I didn't look to close under the hood since it's all coming out

perfect time to clean up the firewall to floor pan pinch weld.

it will make the down pipe install easier.

just opened the hood of my F250, looks like loads of room, but then again im running a FE 390.

I had a 69 F100. Loved that truck. Looking forward to seeing your progress. Only thing that would make it better is if it was a crew cab!
