!999 cabs forward compared to OBS high mileage ?

For people who have owned these trucks the last like 30 plus years, How do the newer cabs compare to the older ones when they get high mileage on them, do the windows stay tight and does the interior hold up better ? I know they are more comfortable correct ?

I am just curious because I bought another OBS and the windows were like totally lose and shaking around as usual..

Thanks for the time and help.

The reason I ask this ? is I see these 6.0 trucks all the time for cheap with blown motors and can be had as a good project.

The OBS cab is (IMO) pretty stone-age and has a lot of wind noise, compared to the Super Duty cab style. I think the interiors are somewhat more durable and practical. It depends greatly on how the truck was used, so go look at several new body style SDs and look for wear and tear.

I actually prefer the obs doors to the sd when it comes to wind noise. My sd is still new and tight, but any clamshell doors I have ever used that had any wear on them leaked air like a sieve. I like the drip rails on the obs too. And the vent windows.

I have the first-year Super Duty (and an early-99 at that). I have over a quarter million miles on it, and the previous owner abused it and didn't bother with maintenance (must have cut into his beer money).

That said, my doors still shut tighter than my previous 1994 that had 100,000 less miles and has substantially less wind noise. I have zero issues with door hinge sag- I problem I had to fix on the 94. My 99 still has it's entire front cab mount supports intact, where they were rusting away on the 94. While I am just now getting noticeable cab corner rust, the 94 started showing much worse rust while it's age was still in the single digits.

And the dash STAYS PUT on the passenger side. On my 94, my best friend's 95 and my dad's 90-something with the same dash, the passenger side of the dash assembly bounced around like crazy.

And in my opinion, the wind noise is much less on the SD as compared to the three OBS trucks I mentioned. And wing windows? Personal preference, but every truck break-in I ever had was accessed through the wing windows, so I have no desire for them.
