I need to have some top soil loaded up in my truck for my yard. The nursery says 1 yard of soil weighs about 1800lbs. Do you guys think with factory overload springs I could carry 1 1/2 yards of soil? My truck is 9200gvwr and the rear axle is 6084gawr.

srw? just take a yard at a time.especially if the nursery isn't too far away where a few trips doesn't take much for time anyway.
depending on how much you need, you can check for prices to just have it delivered or rent a dump trailer if it's a longs ways off.

Yeah, I've got single wheels. The nursery is 45 miles from home by where my kids go to school. So I'd have to make it a two day trip I guess.

if you had a dually and extra springs, you could haul a couple yards:

but id never try to put more on a srw and drive 45 miles.no good.you heat up them tires and have a blowout, and you'd be sorry.

I hear that. There's a local place and I'm trying to see if they sell to the public, but its the weekend and nobody will pick up the damn phone.

I used to haul a 3000# pallet of Seed 2/3miles with my old 94 F150 (crazy overloaded), traded it for an 06 F350 SRW and wouldn't hesitate to drive any distance with that load in back.

I depends.

What does your truck weigh empty. I am guessing about 6500-6800
So that would leave you a 2400-2700 capacity.

What is your truck registered for?

I've hauled 1 1/2 yards in my heavy 3/4 ton before and wasn't even on the overloads.

In California, all full sized pickups are registered as commercial.

I've hauled 2500lbs in the bed of mine. I wouldn't think you'd have any issues with 1.5 yards.

Legal, or what will it take to collapse your springs?

Much depends on the weight specified on your door post tag. What does it say?

Legally, you can't be over 9200 lbs at the scale, so 9200- your trucks wet weight. Of course, your registration also has to support the weight you carry. Not all commercial or truck registrations are the same.

Sorry, I thought you meant registration-wise. In terms of weight, I have no idea. They don't make you get it weighed. However, assuming the dump scales are accurate, right at 6k
