Grille XXX ****

Not for the squeamish. I finally assembled the ultimate front end for the 69 ford truck. Standard Cab or Ranger.

If I owned a 69 I'd be sportin' a woody.

Last year I did pick up a service replacement '70 grill shell in the box for cheap...from the same seller an NOS 71-77 steering wheel.

How long did it take you to collect all the NOS pieces to make a complete front like that? I was trying to get a 69 ranger with a really nice grille except acouple small dings on the corner by the headlight buckets. Couldn't agree on a price so I had to pass on it.

A few years ago I thought it would be so cool to have a complete grille set up that was NOS. So I started getting the pieces together. I finally had everything except the grille shell. Two years ago a shell like the one I have popped up on ebay, I contacted the seller and we worked out a deal. He needed some other parts that I had and after a few emails we struck up a deal. NOT
The seller sent me an email informing me that he sold the grille and we would not be doing the deal. (A man is only as good as his word)
I've seen two NOS grilles on ebay but they were out of my price range, so I kept looking. Well today I walked into an auto dismantler shop because I noticed a couple of old trucks on his lot. I normally don't bother with dismantlers because their prices are to high.
As I was talking with the guy he informed me that he had a new 69 grille still in the box, plus headlight bezels/doors. Well I chocked a bit but kept my composure and said I'd like to see them.
We walked to the back where he pulled down this ford box, I can see the part number already and as I tried not to show my excitement, he pulled the grille out of the box, (be still my heart) he then went back and pulled the headlight bezels both still in the box. By now everyone could here my heart pounding, I tried to act cool, (how can you act cool when you can't get out of a crouched position? So I said lets go look at the trucks on the lot and we'll talk about the grille.
He had 2 - 72's, 2 -65's another 69 and a 68. The 68 grille was in bad shape the 69 Ranger was in good shape except for passenger headlight bezel. The 65's were excellent. (he's keeping one of the 65 grilles)
Well after all that, we struck up a package deal. When all is said and done, the new in box grille should be free. I have to work a little for it, but it will be free.
There's more to the story but that's the just of it, and now I own a NOS front grille assembly. Pretty cool huh?

Truely an amazing find on walking in that place. Good thing you did or who knows when that grille would of been finally sold. and well worth it in the end. The 65 and 69 grilles are my favorite. I'm still trying to not think how I let a 69 slip away from me today.

Now that you've completed your long search & hunt.
You will be at a lost for that thrilled feeling you got when you scored a NOS part in your zest to hunt.

But that's now it's over, now every time you boot up you computer and looking at your key board you'll be think, damn don't know what to search for any more.
As least for a while may be!
