My Uncle has a 1999 F250 with 260K miles. Engine, fuel and exhaust systems have never been touched. Saturday he pulled his 26 foot horse trailer throughout WA with no problems. Sunday he went to take the truck to town and noticed that he suddenly had a lack of power, and some smoke (possibly blue-ish) coming from the exhaust. He has been told "injectors" by a couple people, "turbo" by some, and "injector harness/valve cover gasket" by others. SO I have 2 questions to ask on his behalf:

1) Which one seems most likely?

2) Any recommendations on a reputable shop near Ephrata, WA?

7.3l diesel?

Any check engine light or other symptoms?

If it was injector harness it would probably run very rough.

If it is injectors, same story...probably run very rough and be hard to start when cold.

Turbo.....could be. If a turbo seal gos you get a lot more that a little blue smoke, more like a freight train.

If it is running smooth just no power I would start with looking for a blown or torn intercooler boot/boost leak.

 

What Clem said. Helped a buddy the other day to change out glow plugs and we left 2 boots loose. Lost of black smoke if a boot comes loose when he got on it.
I believe it is an 11MM deep socket to tighten those up.
