Modifying the current engine, which does bolt right in, will be much easier than an all out swap. And there is no shame in letting a pro build the engine for you, if that is not your cup of tea. You're a body man, maybe you can trade some body work for labor on the rebuild, if money is tight.

You'd have to seriously upgrade the 223 in order for it to be too much for the stock transmission. But, a swap to an engine that was never even offered in it means you definitely have to deal with a different transmission and a plethora of other things.

That makes sense. I guess my delima is that i have an opportunity to get 2 different engines that come with transmissions for good prices. Or i could put money into the stock motor just hoping that it will perform the way i would like it to. Im not nessisarily trying to keep it original, so i guess its just gonna come down to personal preference.

Every time I see this truck and a few others like Skidoorulz etc., its a testament to keeping the original driveline and just building what you have. I know I am NEVER getting rid of my Y-block. P38fighter - hats off.

1964FordTuf,

Where did you hook up the water line running down from the intake manifold? I am very interested in this setup. Thanks, Cazman

Hose routing - temporary

The truck has no heater so this is temporary routing until the HVAC goes in. The front hose goes to the goose neck and the rear hose goes to the water pump

Sometimes it takes more than a couple days to get an engine to turn again.

Hey Vinny,

I could definitely use the dipstick for a 223, and the oil bath air cleaner, depending how much you want and shipping. Who makes the carb that is on that 223, cause I have a Holley carb and the fuel line comes in from the side. I ordered a fuel line from national parts depot, and I was sent a fuel line that come in from the front, so it can not work on my truck. If you need a stainless fuel line, maybe we can swap?
