Have you tried turning up the idle speed screw?
Have you set the idle mixture screw?

Is your ignition timing set correctly?

Yes, no carb adjustments have any effect. And as far as timing, i put an old junker carb on and it runs/idles fine.. but its not a good carb.

The carb in question? It runs as long as you keep pumping continuously..

It ran fine for years.. Vehicle stalled one day and would not start so I had a "pro" rebuild it.. Turned out to be ignition issue, but the carb has not worked since.. The "pro" seems to have skipped town

Well then I'd say your "pro" professionally F'ed it up! I'd rebuild it yourself and see what happens.

Thats worth considering.. However its not struggling to idle, its dead at idle completely.. It would have to be in the carb itself, as that used carb idles..

You have a peculiar problem that's for sure. At this point, I'd just say a replacement is the next step.

Looks like you're missing some parts. Do you have installed #61,41,35,37?
.

Note. When putting the top cover assembly on go straight down. Make sure Plunger #38 goes straight down over the pintle protruding up in #37. It is easy to get the #38 plunger to the side of #37 pintle, not pushing it down as it's supposed to be.

#61,41,35,37 are there, and were installed..

Having the plunger misaligned, well thats sure possible.. Ill look at that alignment. thanks

Also, I was told that the material (black plastic?) the floats are made of can eventually saturate and not function.

Could that cause the symptoms? Brass ones are available...
