99 F250 4x4 super duty diesel trans leak

The transmission on my 99 f-250 is leaking around one of two bolts under the output shaft. They are just above the cross member and don't appear to be holding anything from the outside of the transmission at least. It's a slow leak but is like to fix it before it gets worse. Does anyone know what this bolt is for? Is it safe to remove and put a seal on it?

Can you post a photo of where it's leaking?

Both of these were taken after I'd cleaned the area.

Thanks for the photos. It's been a year or two since I've spent any time under one of these, but it looks like it's coming from between the engine and transmission. Looks like a front transmission seal to me, which is unfortunately a relatively common failure. Not a terribly expensive part if this is the case, but the transmission has to be removed to replace.

Thanks Tom but that's at the rear of the transmission. That part that has rear on it is between the tail piece and the crossmember of the frame. The bolt I'm pointing at with the screw driver is the one leaking.
