My opinion (glad you asked!)....I think it depends on how deep and big the rims are....and of course, personal taste. I do like white lettering out! Good luck! Chris

Thanks for the honest feedback gents! I wouldn't have asked if I didn't want the truth. I guess I was thinking that tubes might make them a bit safer provided they are not completely dry rotted and cracked to beat the band, but maybe not. 99% of my driving will be 35mph or less, but there is still that chance. I'll look at them tonight and see just how they look.

P.S. "Do these jeans make me look fat?" Now that's a question that doesn't want honest feedback........

My wife married me in 70 if I asked today I don't think she would even consider taking a 45 year older me. Why do that with tires.

YES to the whitewalls, I would love to put some on my truck... But a very loud NO to tires from the 70's. They can (and will) come apart, any tire over 6 years old should not be used.

My opinion....White Walls make a jalopy like mine look like it's supposed to be like that. If I had the stance and the finished look that most of these fellows have I would have cool modern tires and wheels. The pic is just to show you how much it can change the look. The fact that the AFTER picture was taken in the shade didn't hurt either.

Well I went and took a look at the infamous old whitewalls this afternoon. I took your advice and passed on them. I'm sure they would have been ok for a trailer queen as mentioned, but mine will be a driver (and my kids will be driving it). I think the whitewalls would have looked good, but I'll save up for my white letter tires and grey Torque Thrust wheels. Thanks again to all you guys for your honest advicefeedback, and pictures too! Enjoy your rides!
