@#$!$% radio

2001 Ford Superduty- trying to take factory radio out- the side clips are broken so the radio ool is useless-
I was able to snap the tabs off with a butterknife and a lot of F bombs....... the front of the stereo now is out but feels like something is still holding it in- I am afraid to get to forceful and yank it out but my patience growing thin- Is there anything else that holds it??

That won't work when the clips are already damaged.

Mine did that to me a while back. The right side clip got damaged so it hung the whole <bleeping> thing in there. I finally got it out (don't remember the final solution) but it wasn't pretty. The radio still works but the buttons don't feel right.

Wish I could recall what the exact solution was. Probably used a piece of flat metal that I worked from the bottom or the top to force the clip back in against the chassis, then pried it out with a screwdriver.

When that happened to my old '92 F250, I removed the dash panel that surrounds the radio (used only fingers) then somehow I managed to get fingers of one hand onto the area where the part of the broken clip that was still holding the radio and it came loose. Did you remove the connectors off the rear of the radio...esp the antenna?

Maybe use a mirror and flashlight to see what is holding it in?

On mine, it was the actual locking tab that bent outwards so that it caught on the inside of the mounting hole.
