Knocking noise
#31
He had no codes and that was almost exactly where it would go away 2k RPM. Also he had 4 cracks in it(we could see). When removing it fell apart !!! Not that that would make a guy feel better. Look on the harbor freight website for scopes they are like $100 with light on them and everything. Othewise it is hard to see cracks from the inspection hole. The light bulb went off in my head when you said it sounded like it was in the bell housing. My brother in law is using my trans jack right now he slid the trans back just enough to get a wrench on the bolts. Its not a whole removal job.

ill definitely check the fly wheel but after climbing under it and listening it seems to be low on the motor. Like a connecting rod bearing or something. It runs like a champ and only smokes or misses on startup. As soon as its warm NO issues what so ever and dosent do anything weird until the next day when its completely cold. Was his a standard?

As it was also sounding like it was in the bell housing area and sounded like a rod knock/steel crank issue. I wanted to show the results now that the job was finished. You could hear it from the top but it was clear as a bell from below. That's why we suspected it was not injector. We had even unplugged that #8 with no change in tone. Also as we had the VC off we unplugged each one at a time on that side, they all were working and pulling with no tone change in the bottom of the engine. It stumped us for a long time. But thank GOD it did not come totally apart of the highway.
