Another one followed me home

This thing followed me home this weekend.

Quite literally

(check out those super awesome KM2's-Thanks FTE and BFG).

What I know about it:

E99 F350 CCLB 4x4 Lariat.
Auto trans
Has been sitting for about 7 years
Has some sort of electrical issue
The starter is sitting on the passenger floorboard

The engine bay is dirty to say the least

It has a metric crap ton of miles on it

The story is that it was used to haul bulls from Central California to Texas quite regularly. It was parked with some sort of electrical problem, and now the owner has been MIA for quite some time. My plan is to either get it running and sell it, or part it out. After seeing the odometer(after i got it home) I am more inclined to try and get her back on the road towards the million mark. It will take some time to get paper work on it, so I won't be putting much if any money into it for a while but I do plan on throwing a couple batteries and the starter back in and see what happens.

Well, it's looks great for nearly 800k miles on it, at least the pass side does.

Unless you're the one who pulled that intake tube off, I wouldn't crank it at all without thoroughly cleaning the intake plumbing. Looks like a bughouse or mouse home to me.

Looks nice from a distance. Hows the interior? First and for most clean that eng bay. Sitting for 7 yrs, I wonder what else went bad just from sitting. How much did you score it for?

Sucks that the intake hose has been off like that. Guess you can pull the hose, IC tubes and intercooler and try to clean the dust out.

Hopefully the electrical gremlin turns out to be an easy fix.

I plan on pulling the intake until I stop finding dirt, I doubt there is much dust past the turbo. Drivers seat is torn up, passenger seat is in pretty good shape and the back seat is perfect. The drivers rear tire blew out at some point and damaged the bed, the tailgate is beat, and the pass tail light is broken along with some bed damage there.

So far I'm into it for a grand, not too worried about getting my money out of it.

I would drain all the fluids and change filters (including fuel and fuel filter) and replace them before I tried to start it.

That sounds too expensive and time consuming for an engine that may not even turn over .

At least pull the drain plug and let the water out of the bottom of the pan.

Finally took a look at the truck. No communication with the PCM. No MIL, WTS, the OD off light stays lit very dimly. 5 amp pcm fuse was blown, replaced with no change. All powers and grounds good at the PCM. Pulled the PCM apart and there is a burned spot right where pin 97 (B+) goes into a cap, also a burned component down between the two transistors on the chip port end of the PCM. Now I'm trying to find a cheap PCM to plug in and try, I don't want to use the one out of my '00 in case it fries again.
Any one seen a PCM fry like this?

BTW, the first section of the intake boot had some dust in it, the rest of the intake and the turbo are clean. Compressor wheel is in good shape, not even considering the mileage.

was the edge connector cleaned as evidence of a chip being installed?

any weird aftermarket wireing under the dash or anywhere else on the truck?

I'd be leery of plugging another PCM in as well. You might try giving one of the larger volume tuners a call, I'm sure they have seen the guts of thousands of pcms.

What does pin 97 do? I'd check that component and trace that wire before trying another PCM.

Actually, just closely inspect ALL the wiring - especially the common problem spots like top of VC, near drivers side shock tower, etc.
