Did Ford make a factory (or factory conversion) f350 4x4?

Title is kinda self explanatory. Got a buddy looking for a slick 4x4 and he asked me if ford made a factory f350 4x4. I "think" Ford outsourced the f350 4x4's to Marmon Harrington or other companies, (which personnaly I would consider "factory"), but don't really know.

Thanks.

First year an F350 4x4 rolled off a Ford assembly line was 1979.

Anything prior to that would have been a conversion of some sort.

I think that the frame on the slick 4x4 were all the same as the frame for the f350 in those years no axle hump at the rear axle in the frame that some thing ND would know

The F350 frames, bodies, steering box and drag link are all quite similar to the same year F250 4X4.

Apparently there was not even a factory outscource conversion available for the f350's. Kinda odd since I was thinking some of the big trucks have factory outsourced 4x4 fronts on them. I suppose a limited market or something.

Anyway thanks everyone for the replies.

Schoo are you asking about the core support? If so yes they are. These acutally came off of a 61 F350 that is in the local north P&S. I was lucky in that the springs that mount the core to the frame were still intack as well. Inner passenger fenders are the same as the 4x4 also as the battery on the F350 is under the passenger floor board.

Inner fender passenger side same as 4x4. Lower grille same as the 4x4.

Core support same as the 4x4 except the 66 F100 4x4. This one still had both bolts and mounting springs in tack that I need for my 63 that are no longer available. Nice little trinket score.

I don't find many of the F350s in the scrap yards out here in Eastern Washington state. I think most are still out on the farm working or parked out behind the barn rusting and rotting away. I was surprised to see this one in the P&S. They are a great source for parts for the 4x4s. Except the 66 F100 4x4.

Apparently, you have come to the wrong conclusion. You were much closer in your opening post "I think Ford outsourced the F350".

"Anything prior to that would have been a conversion of some sort."

Apparently I misinterprted the term "conversion" in the above statement to mean home conversion only.

So what you and TH455HO are saying is 4x4 f350's were available but were outscourced by ford to another company for the conversion? If so good enough for me I consider that "factory".

1979 was the first year that FoMoCo offered factory installed 4WD in F350's. All previous F350 4WD's were conversions, so cannot be considered "factory."

If the original purchasers so ordered, 1953/78 F350's were sent out by FoMoCo after they left the assembly line to be converted to 4WD. Conversions by Marmon-Herrington & NAPCO predominated.

When this occurred, the DSO code on the Warranty Plate has 4 (1961/63) or 6 digits (1964/78) denoting a Domestic Special Order.

Probably the most FAQ in this forum, I've typed this same info 100's of times:

C2TZ-16138-G .. Radiator Support / Reproduced

1961/64 F100/250 2WD/4WD / 1961/66 F350/600 / 1965 F100/250 4WD / 1966 F250 4WD.

Hello, New to the site. Looking for some input. I am looking to bring back an 64 F100 4x4. It is a project. It is all original but the cab and motor are not good. I do have a 61 F350 2wd with a good cab and running 292 4 spd. And also a 64 F100 2wd with a running 223 six with a 4spd. Is it possible to use the F350 cab and frame and relocate the 4wd components off the F100 to make it a functional 4x4 or isnt the F350 frame suitable for mounting the front springs and axle off the F100 4x4 donor?
