metallic vs solid

I'm almost at that point to paint the truck after a year on bodywork and mods. I started off thinking I'd do a metallic vs a solid color, but now I'm kind of thinking the solid color. After looking at some of my buddies trucks and the solids just look better. But is there any other colors besides RED or BLACK that these truck look good with?

Has anyone else struggled with this?

I guess I never struggled with the decision but I have thought about the pros and cons regarding the choice. Metallics look nicer to me, more sparkle in the sun and almost a solid look in the shade. Solids are easier to shoot and to repair so refinishing is easier. As for color, I have seen orange, teal, blue, and green shades that look great. Years ago a guy in PULSD had a slant cab that was painted almost an OD green that looked really good. A guy at the last Big Bear show had a 56 that was painted a really nice shade of teal...not really blue and not really green, something in between. I took photos of that truck and none of the pictures accurately captured the true color. Good luck...

Another nice colour that I think suits the 56's is a bright canary yellow .

Hey Charlie. I guess having a solid RED truck before got me looking for something different and that got me looking at the Metallics, I like this color and shot some on
the gravel pan. Copper metallic

Ed, that looks like a House of Kolor sample car...they have some nice shades in the copper line. Be careful when you pick a color though, many of the old Shimrin colors are now obsolete...at least in the pre-mixed state. I am using the Shimrin II product line and find that it really opens up the spectra of colors and effects. Sprayed over a tinted sealer coat of KD-3000 and you have a real nice job.

I can't imagine painting anything a solid color.. I loves how pearls color flop and really make the body lines stand out ... My opinion is don't ever do a single stage pearl or metallic. You can't color sand, no depth, and you can't simply buff out scratches. I've painted 4 cars and 10 or more motorcycles and out of this only one solid color "black" so I am biased.

Let me know before you buy paint, I buy from the same local distributor that supplies TCP...I can save you some bucks and get better quality.

Take a look at this website, I bet you can find something that you don't see anywhere else: House of Kolor - Shimrin 2 Colors

I might ask for the same hook up . I've used TCP 3 or 4 times and its been great and the price is right too. I've only used the Kustom Shop clear that comes in their kits once and it was a little soft but still pretty good

I used the fire red pearl on this bike I built

Sweet bike! I purchased a few other things related to bodywork and their shipping is quick, of course San Diego is just south of the LA county.
