Back with a much newer truck

Just purchased this last Tuesday evening (3 Mar 15). I needed it to pull my small camper trailer that I'm currently living in for work in south Texas.

Truck has aprrox 85K miles on it and is exceptionally clean. The previous owner put a cheap exhaust on it that's a tad to loud for my taste. As good as the truck is, I've already gotten a list going to improve on a already good vehicle: a factory satellite radio for the 10 hour drives to/from home
factory leather wrap steering wheel
did I mention the exhaust is loud?!?
factory overhead console/sunglass holder thingy

The truck does have the V-6, and yes the trailer is close (but below) the tow capacity of the truck. I used it to pull the trailer two hours from Kingsville Texas to Victoria Texas. While I may not have had a lot of power from the V-6, I did not notice any other issues. The truck will stop the trailer fine, temp guage doesn't move, the rear of the truck don't squat down....etc.

4.2L auto trans I assume? That's a nice-looking rig. I've often wondered what the V6 would sound like with duals, but its probably a waste of money without a V8. Probably just a louder buzz with no thump. Look at JC Whitney - they have an assortment of cat-back systems for it, mostly large single.

First thing done was to replace the near completely faded blue oval on the grille.

Also replaced the remote lock/unlock case and a burned out fog-light bulb.

Nice looking truck! I love the look of reg cab short beds with a canopy. I am wondering what kind of MPG's the ol' 4.2 is providing when not towing - decent?

I got 18.5 - 19 mpg, with A/C, complete interstate for 650 miles. I am pleased with that. Literally, right after I bought it I was on the road.

Thanx to all for the compliments.

Never did like dealer installed pin stripes...so now they're gone. Fortunately, they came off by hand since they were only recently applied, hardly any leftover adhesive to clean up, and no fading.

Next is to remove the leftotover sticky tape from the vent shades that were on the doors

** after I took this picture, I went one step further and removed the STX's on the sides of the bed. **

Minor update.

Went to a local U-Pull it and added some chrome A/C rings on the dash vents.

Also got the O/H console...but I think that after looking more closely it won't fit. The truck it came from was a crew cab, and mine is (obviously) a regular cab. Anyone...???

I like the chrome rings on the vents, but after seeing radios with chrome buttons, I knew I had to have one.

Thanx to ebay.....

I also removed the camper shell at a local ARE dealer and they are going to replace the molding across the bottom perimeter that was missing. Truck looks completely different without the shell on the back and now I'm having to carry my work stuff in the cab.

New third brakelight/cargo light part #

Notice how thin the gasket is. On my truck it was leaking in at least two places

New part with much thicker gasket. Once installed, I have not seen a drop inside.

Also not pictured are the new factory floormats courtesy of ebay and my camper shell is back on after getting the molding replaced and repainted.

On the third brake light, did you use the harness that came on it or just connect it to the old one?
