Most will agree that the Donaldson DBL7405 is the best filter, but everybody will have a different opinion on oil. I just buy the Delo400 at Costco whenever it goes on sale. The DB7405 is larger than a stock filter and does hang below the oil pan about 1-2". If you you don't like that, then just get the Motorcraft filter.

Donaldson is the one I use.
Just thought I would add these pics, it is large but an excellent filter.
I run the Donaldson as well; fyi the last one I purchased was blue. Seems they modded their product line. As far as lube oil goes I run Rotella conventional.
