f350 5.4l stalling issues

I have a 2002 f350 5.4l that has stalling issues, first some back round. last week I pulled up the a stop light and the truck stalled I figured it was a iced fuel line as it was very cold so I put a bottle of drygas in the tank. evidently there was a lot of moister in there because as soon as I started the truck check engine light came on and truck would not idle at all. I got through that tank and am now on my second tank. it is better but the truck will still stall when stopped at light (has never stalled in park or on the road only while stopped in drive) the check engine also light went off halfway through the first tank. what next?

Possibly a faulty idle air control valve? Maybe a torque converter not unlocking properly?Just Tossing some ideas your way.

was going to say the same thing. My Jeep Cherokee would stall out at every stop sign when mine went bad.

Have you scanned for codes?

I was under the impression that this truck does not have any IAC? I unplugged the TPS today and it made no change. The other thing is my trans od light started flashing but only at startup when it's dead cold as soon as I get on the road the light goes off and stays off until the next coldstart. Also when I first shift to D in the morning it drops into gear a lot faster than normal? Again once driven it goes back to its usual 1 sec delay. Are these symptoms of torque converter failure also? Truck shifts good as usual on the road. I have not yet had the codes read yet as I don't know anyone with a scanner that will pick up the trans codes.

The 2V 5.4L engines have IACs.

here is an update I have driven the truck to work everyday for the last week. when started in the morning for the first 10min or so while warming up the truck idles rough and the OD light starts flashing. when its up to temp and you shift to drive it shifts hard and fast into gear (torque converter locked?) then as you pick up speed on the road the light always goes off. pull up to a stop sign in D and it will stall unless you hold it at 1k or so. truck never stalls while in P . note: truck still shifts great and torque converter locks at 40mph quick and smooth but something is certainly wrong here. does this sound like the torque converter itself is bad or could it be an electrical problem? and how would you test it? also its getting terrible fuel milage. I would have a hard time believing the TC went out all together as the truck only has 115K on it and it never pulls a trailer, not like the 5.4l puts out a lot of torque either. tranny fluid is clean, filled to proper level and not burnt.

well today I replaced the neg bat cable as it was rusty, and cleaned all grounds that I could find (4) I also checked the wiring at the shift lever and all was good there, checked fuses none were blown. I disconnected the alternator and started the truck on just the battery. it seemed to run a little better and the OD light did not come on as usual also the first shift from P to D was not as hard as before however the truck still stalled soon after. I am out of things to try other than take it to the dealer to put it on a scope.
