I installed an American AutoWire kit in my 1969 Mustang. I used the Astro ratching wire crimpers as opposed to the 2 crimpers that AAW recommended. My crimper was about 100 bucks and can crimp damn near anything. The AAW crimpers are nice but only do a few different crimps.

I will offer this advice:
Use a high quality crimper
Get plenty of heat shrink to finish up loose ends and add a clean look
Get wire loom (I got mine from a computer parts store and its VERY nice and makes the harness look factory) Go for the braided like this:

Wire Loom & Loom Clamps

get the loom that has a split down the center and it holds together very nice. I also used black fabric tape to secure ends and brached circuits (same tape I uesd for hockey)

Lay the harness out on the ground and route everything how you feel it should be laid out.
Mark off with a pencil, every step you complete as you go. Dont skip steps

I also used American Autowire for a complete rewire of a 1966 Chevy C10 I restored last year. It was a great product with very good instructions. Instead of just crimping all the connections, I took the time to solder and then crimp. Everything worked the first time I tried it with no shorts or open circuits. Good luck with yours!

Thanks for all the info!

Can't wait to get started. I've been looking at all types of wire looms and conduit. Have just been waiting on the wiring so I know what size to get.
