anyone do a 6v53 diesel swap?
Was wondering if anyone on this site has done a 6v53 swap into their dentside? I was thinking about doing this for the fun of it if i can find an f350 for cheap around here somewhere, my f150 definitely would not hold up to that big engine haha!
biggest concern is not being sure if im able to have 4x4 because of the engine being in the way or something.
Let me know guys, Pics are very welcome!

In pretty sure a 6v53 weighs about 1700 pounds. So know matter what you do you're gonna be dealing with a serious amount of weight up front at all times. Why not a dt360? Just as proven a design, lighter, smaller in length, width, and height, I have no idea which one would be easier to come by or what transmissions you can bolt to them. I also don't know much hp/tq a 6v53 can easily make but I think guys get 3-400 hp and 7-800ftlb's out of dt360's relatively easily. The 360 would still give you the cool engine that not a lot of people have like the 6v53.

I saw a 79 Bronco with a 3-71 in it. It just fit. A friend of mine has a 69 GMC 3/4 ton with a 4-53T in it, but he has a straight axle under it. I've seen a 3500HD chevy with a 6V-53 dual turbo in it, one turbo for each bank. I haven't seen it around for a few years.
Lastly, someone has a mid 60's IH 4X4 with and 1160 Claterpillar shoved in it. Anything is possible with enough money!!!
In 2004 I was at the White Bash. Guy had a WC22 with a 466DT with an allison behind it. He had to cut firewall back 4in to clear it.

I say do it. A quick internet search shows plenty of pickup trucks you already have them and it looks very doable. In fact, this might need to be my next project. I'm typically a CAT fan and I have a couple of those in big trucks, I already have a Cummins and a Navistar in pickups so maybe it's time for a Detroit somewhere in the fleet. Plus the two stroke sounds super cool. As far as transmissions go, it's no big deal. You could easily run and Allison automatic or medium duty from Fuller or Spicer.
