96 E-350 Wipers go on when engine started?
Here is a good one for you. It's St Pete Florida and I found ice where puddle of was sitting. I went to start my van and it started amazingly well, but the wipers came on too. I checked and the wiper switch was off. I had to turn the switch one and then off to stop the wipers. A few minutes later I started the van again and the wipers came on again. How is it possible that the wipers are going on with the switch turned off? Has anyone seen this before or have any clue what's happening?
Thanks for any help.

Have not had that happen before......
More than likely the multi-function switch is going bad, when you turn on the key switch, your sending power into the switch, and the contacts for the wipers could be bad and just powering up the wiper motor.
Here's a tech write-up Link for it if you didn't know.

This could also be the wiper motor itself going bad---its park feature not fully breaking contact when ignition is off or the MFS is in its off position.
If the wipers start and stop with the MFS, the turn signals work along with the high beam headlight function most likely its not bad--yet.

Now that the temperature is back up it doesn't do it anymore. But, Yes, the Park feature would appear to be the most likely cause, although I have been having several other unexplained problems lately. I have an aftermarket Cruise Control and on occasion, for no apparent reason the van will just start slowing down. It does not disengage. It's like it can't sense the speed. Then there is another problem that may be computer related and seems to happen more often when the outdoor temp is higher. I have trouble with the engine choking when I start it. It floods and dies. Then I must wait a few minutes for the excess fuel to evaporate and then start it again. I can usually avert the stall if I race the engine a bit until it stabilizes. It's a real pain. I get a code that the EGR position sensor is either high or low but nothing I have done will clear the codes, including replacing the sensor.
