The newer limited's had a slightly lower towing capacity because of the 22" tires. I almost bought one, but couldn't get it priced where I was happy. I have an FX4 that's loaded with everything, and I really enjoy driving the hell out of my truck. Figure out what you can afford and the options that are must hav and go from there.

On a side note, a friend of mine just bought a brand new '14 XLT that was loaded with everything minus a sunroof and he paid $35k for it.

I'm really interested in the 2011 Lariat Limited or possibly a 2013+ FX4 Appearance. Most likely white. What do you suggest?
If your looking at a '11 Limited the only engine available is the 6.2L V8…which is an awesome power plant! Due to the wheels you are limited at 7,500lbs of towing capacity though.

At this point I'm thinking I'll probably just go to an F-150. I know the F-250 means I'll never run into anything I can't tow (within reason), but I'm tired of dealing with diesel. Also, I only tow a couple times a month and never have needed the payload capacity of the F-250 unless I was hauling scrap, in which case I can simply make two trips if needed (scrapyard is only a couple minutes from my house). This will be my daily driver as well and I just feel I would be much happier with a nicer riding and more quiet F-150. I have a feeling an F-150 with the max tow package could do just as well as the 6.0 simply because of the select shift feature. That's one thing I hate about the 6.0 is no select shift.

...and I believe the later Limited models are only available with the EcoBoost, if I remember correctly. That's what I have, and love it -- the torque feeling is so much like my diesel, I knew that was the engine I wanted. Especially tuned.

It seems like a lot of 7.3 and 6.0 owners have gone to 11-14 F-150's simply because the F-150's towing capacity has gone up quite a bit along with a generous change in power plants. I know my 6.0 will tow anything I throw at it, but it doesn't mean it will tow it as comfortably as the F-150 would. Like I said, at this point I'm just ready to get away from diesel. It's a pain in the *** in 0 degree temps having to plug it in, wait for it to warm up, possible gel-up, etc.

I know I definitely still need a truck as I use the bed a fair amount for hauling scrap, used car parts, tires, brush, and building materials, but the most I'ved towed is a car on a car trailer. My friend has a 2013 Ecoboost Lariat with a double car trailer and said it tows it without an issue, so that makes me think unless I were to give a big travel trailer or a camper that I wouldn't have any issues towing. He also went from 6.0 Powerstrokes to the F-150 and said he would never go back to a diesel. I'm sure the F-150 would suit my needs a lot better. I live in the city and it gets to be a pain parking and driving the F-250 as well.

The EcoBoost will pull a big load. No matter which F150 engine you get, they all have poor fuel economy while towing, but since you don't tow often, that's not such a big deal.

Yea, fuel economy isn't a worry really. I have the F-250 which usually averages 15 in the summer but I also have to pay 50 cents (or more) per gallon of fuel. If the F-150 got 12 and I could run 89 in it it would be a wash.

Yeah, I'm seeing roughly what I was getting out of my F250 in town. Towing and highway remains to be seen. Still haven't done any road trips yet. I expect to see roughly the same but with a MUCH nicer truck that costs less to fuel & maintain, overall. Except that it was nice not having a truck payment.

Yea, I'm getting tired of the 100+ dollar oil changes, having to do fuel filters and coolant filter every other oil change, and the fact that everything is big and heavy to work on.
