It's not really that difficult to repair them. I teach my workshop students how to form the patches for the fender joint in one weekend class and just did another weekend workshop where we formed and installed the lower rear section on two front fenders. If interested in taking one of my workshops (a LOT less expensive than 1 repop fender!), send me a PM or email.

Really nice article in your link. I'm not sure I want to get into body work mainly because the end result would be prime and paint, which I don't have the equipment or space for in my garage shop. I have a local "old school" body guy but he's approaching a point where he wants to close shop and I want the rest of my truck painted before he hangs it up. I'll be ready for fronts by summer so if they aren't out before then I'll have to get mine repaired and straightened. They are a mess, way more than the usual rust out. Dented and twisted a bit. Basically without a good pattern fender I'm not sure how you would know what to fix.
Unfortunately DC has been saying that for several years now. I wouldn't bet on them until I actually see a set.

If your fenders are in really bad shape, like the couple of pairs I've brought back from the dead, all you can do is repair them as best you can using all four pieces and making the pieces fit to each other. Most likely, especially for a non-professional, the parts will not fit any other fenders because they won't be perfect but as look as they look good and fit good, that's all that matters. I know the Frankenstein fenders I patched together will never fit up with another set of fenders.
