Transfer case shift linkage

okay guys im looking for a part # or maybe some measurements so i can build one. I succsessfully completed a zf5 swap on my truck with one minor issue left over. i have a zf5 and bw1356 transfer case combo but i dont have the little shift rod that goes from the aluminium shifter to the transfer case. i cut my old auto one and rewelded it but it doesnt seem to have worked out. so id rather buy the proper one

When I converted my truck from auto to stick, I had trouble with this. I had the linkage from both my 97 auto and the 93 5 speed donor truck. I used the 97 transfer case and neither linkage rods would work. I just put the selector and the transfer case in neutral and measured pin to pin and made one to fit. Both the factory ones that I have were too long

yeah thats what i did but it seems to be a bit off 4hi isnt quite where it should be so im concerned about wearing out shift forks or something and yes im finding the older ones are different and the ones for the 4407 are different to so it seems to come down to shifter type and trans/case combo the auto ones are to long and the 4407 is clocked a bit different from the 1356

I'm not sure, but I may have one. I will have to look tomorrow when I get home from work. I know I have a 1356 t-case that was behind a ZF, but I can't remember if the linkage bar is still on it. I will check it out tomorrow and let you know what I find.

I think I also have one from a '90 F250 with the 351, ZF5, and 1356. I'll check to see if it measures the same as what Brad posted.

The rod from my 97 auto measures 9 inches center to center of the holes.
The one from the 93 ZF 5 spd measures 4 5/16" center to center.
I don't know what the length is, but I had to make one shorter than both of those to work on mine with the ZF and the 97 transfer case

I have one. I also came up with 4 5/16" Put your t-case and the shifter both in the same position and measure to be sure. If it is the 4 5/16" you are welcome to it.

thats strange because my parts truck for the swap was a 96 f350 cclb with the zf5 and 4407 i had to use my exsisting 1356 for reasons of drive shaft availibility and such and the linkage is definetly not correct for the zf5 1356 combo about a 1/2 inch to short
