Howdy Tennessee. I wanted to pop in and introduce myself. My name is Scott and I currently live in New Jersey. My wife and I are heading down to Manchester, TN this weekend. My parents have lived in Manchester for about two years now, moved from NJ. Wife and I are looking for a home in the surrounding area to start a new chapter close to my folks. My wife is five months pregnant with our first baby boy! I could live in a box in the woods, but wife needs a little more town style life. So I am trying to find a balance of property and close to civilization. So I am loading the trailer and truck with my first round of toys and tools to leave at moms house until we get a house there. I will post a pic of the load when its ready to go. Anyway, I am excited to get out of NJ! I will ask to join the Tennessee chapter when I am settled in. I'll be around...
Edit - By the way I will need a job. I am a Licensed plumber in NJ and had a successful business here. I am an expert in underground utilities (water and sewer lines). If anyone might have a job lead let me know. I will be an excellent employee.

Just got back from my annual Smoky Mtn vacation. Hit the rainy spell. But had a great time with great temperatures. Now I'm melting in the 90+ heat in Memphis.

My question goes to the middle TN guys. I took the 840 loop under Nashville for the 1st time. It seems to me like going from the Lebanon side to Dickson is uphill most of the way. I'm not sure I want to take that again with my motorhome. The 6.8 was wound up most of the time.

I hope you have a good trip and best of luck finding a new home. I'll go ahead and say welcome to Tennessee.

Only used it once maybe twice, but I believe that you are correct. I wasn't loaded so I'm not sure about it.

I just didn't notice the trip driving from the Dickson side to Lebanon being that hard on my RV. Could have been my excitement of going to my favorite side on TN.

Scott, the Manchester area is a nice area, you will like it. I'm in the Crossville area about 80 miles north of Manchester. I moved here from the Buffalo area when I retired and love it. The only thing I will caution you on is that the pay scale here will be well below what you are used to.

I don't make a lot of trips out that way, but I have never the 840 loop, always looked at the map and said to myself, 'that's a long way around', so I always just follow 40 through Nashville and have never had a problem. With that said, I usually plan my trip so as not to hit Nashville during the morning or afternoon commute hours.
