99 2.5 T/O Bearing Noise

The T/O bearing makes a high pitch squeal until you put light pressure on clutch then it will go away. Does this thing have a preload on bearing at all times or should there be free play like in the old days??

Another thing that has me wondering is when I push clutch all the way in it actually puts a load on the engine. Anyone else ever have a T/O bearing so bad it puts a load on the engine?

The pilot bearing failed on my 98 Ranger. It piled up and bound the input shaft so bad that the transmission would not disengage. When I took it apart, the rollers were all loose and some of them were broken. That was in July of 2013. The truck had 247,000 miles on it at the time and the clutch disk looked like new. I replaced everything (including a rusty oil pan). It has 256,500 now and still running great.
