Lack of power, 6.0 powerstroke
I just bought a 2005 f350 with a 6.0 diesel. I am noticing lack of power during acceleration mostly. I really have no clue of what it could be. I did notice that the previous owner took the air box cover off and all I can hear going down the road is it sucking air. Anyone have any ideas?

Sounds like you have a turbo leak. Are all of the flex hose joints that run from the turbo to the intake manifold tight and leak free?

Mine is kinda doing the same thing. Only when its cold out. I start the truck and it momentarily makes an air rush sound and builds momentarily high egt. The truck will not build more than 8psi boost. It has great low end power but no upper power. If i shut the truck off after it warms up and restart. its fine. Im thinking the VGT solenoid is sticking when its cold. it feels like there is an air blockage in the system.

I started it this morning and it ran rough at start.(2 degrees out) I use the truck to plow my driveway and it has plenty of power pushing snow. But I have little to no power driving down the road at 30mph. Seems like it won't run more than 2000-2500rpm. I will look into the flex hoses today to see if I can find any leaks.
Anyone think it may be clogged fuel filters?

In addition to the above, I'd check the nipple on the intake manifold where the hose to the MAP sensor connects. That can become filled with soot (especially if your EGR cooler is leaking) become clogged, and if the PCM can't tell how much air is coming in, it won't release the proper amount of fuel. Causing the problem you described.

Fish Sounds like we are having the same issue. Sounds like the vgt is sticking. Did you try shutting it sown and restarting after it warmed up? Mine will run fine after it warms up and is restarted. From what i just watched on youtube videos, The vgt is default to provide low end power. As more power is required when driving the VGT solenoid opens the vanes to provide more air. So you would see adequate power going slow pushing snow but no power when your moving faster. During normal warm up does the turbo sound change? When mine normally warms up after about 3 min of running the idle increases to 1100rpm and it sounds like a jet engine. But when im experiencing this problem it doesn't. I saw a few videos that the ecm had been reprogrammed to cycle the vgt at idle to prevent the vanes from sticking. Here is a video that shows how to see if your vanes are functioning properly without tearign the turbo apart. Its at the end of the video.
