Here in south Texas it doesn't snow much if it does it melts as soon as it hits lol, but we get some freezing from time to time that leaves ice all over the damn place. They put down sand though.

I lived in North Carolina for acouple years and they salted.

When I began my quest to find an old, rust-free Ford truck a few years ago, it seemed that Oregon, Washington, and for some reason, Kalispell Montana had the most rust-free trucks. Because there are so many, they are pretty cheap - compared to the prices of these gems here in Detroit area.

I was in that area for acouple weeks, out in Warren.

And for people wondering what "a little" salt can do, here's a picture of I-94 coming through Wisconsin today. There is NO snow on the road. All of the white on the shoulders and between the tire tracks is SALT! (there is snow in the ditches, just none on the road)
