2001 F250 Fuel Tank Skid Plate: How does it mount?
I have a 2001 F250 Supercab Longbed 4x4. It is a base model without any skid plates, so I bought the transfer case and fuel tank skid plates from someone off of craig's list. I was told they would fit my truck; the guy I bought them from insisted he had them on his 2002 Supercab Longbed. The transfer case one is fine, but, when I tried to install the fuel tank skid plate I can't figure out how it mounts. The rear legs line up with the obvious holes in the frame, but the front legs don't seem right. On the driver's side it lines up with two corresponding holes on the frame, but the leg doesn't seem long enough. On the passenger side the leg seems to interfere with a mount holding the driveshaft. Here are some photos:
Driver's side, you can see where the holes line up, but the fuel tank sticks down too far for the length of the leg:
Passenger's side, this mount for the driveshaft seems to be in the way:
Another shot of the passenger's side, is it supposed to bolt to the driveshaft bracket? I can't tell if it's too short or too long? There's nothing obvious for it to bolt to, unless it shares the bolt holding the driveshaft bracket in place.
Does anyone with a fuel tank skid plate have photos of how it's supposed to mount? I have a sinking feeling this is the wrong skid plate for my truck...
Any help is appreciated. Thanks!
