2001 escape with the 3.0 is making me go bald with motor problems just when I think I fixed it . Is it possible to have a egr malfunction and not set off the check engine light ??? I leave the car seat for a wk. to 10 days and it gets hard to start like it fire's on one or two cylinder's only and just putt's for about one minute and than starts to ideal ok but I can't step on the gas until the engine warms up to almost operating temp. but even than it hesitates and has a little spark ping . any ideas would be a help . thanks

 

It is highly unlikely that the EGR system is causing your symptoms.
