It is WAY too cold to be cruising in that thing with a heated space suit on.

I'll be up there next week. Hopefully, those will still be there. I have to do both wheel cylinders in the '73 because while the driver's side wasn't leaking, it also wasn't working. It was froze solid. Oh well, at least I know the rear brakes are good.

I'm not done with it yet, but I did finish up the driver's side fender support on the Thunderstang. It actually looks like something now and is more rigid than the stock unit. On to the passenger side, then fit the fenders to the car. I'll be happy when this thing is out of my hair.

I was in the field chasing 10 head of deer with it after that, it is way to light.

As far as the door panels/green stuff, I am sure they will be, like I said, middle section as far west or back from the front as you can go, next to a white cab with a flat bed.

It is alot warmer now than earlier this AM. The ice on the steps has melted.....As far the thunderstang? Mustang with a straight front gasser axle and a 460?

Good grief - no wonder I can't anything other than 1/2", 9/16" or 5/8" in my tool box - they make up more than half of the wrenches in that drawer...

Dave, do you have socket rails and wrench racks? Get magnetic ones if you can.

I have socket rails, but I'm in desperate need of the wrench racks.

I squared my jaw and gritted my teeth and dove into the mound of tools out in the barn and filled up a box with wrenches to try to find some of the sizes I need. Unfortunately, most of what I have found are duplicates.

Ok. The Thunderstang is actually a 2003 Thunderbird. The body was cut off and a 1965 Mustang body was haphazardly spliced on. The owner got the basic shell together but it was so far off, he gave up. Now it's my job to make it look like a car. I'm basically going to fab new panels up the center of the car. While the T-bird and the mustang have the same wheelbase, the T-bird is 6" wider than the Mustang. That means the Mustang was cut in half and 6" had to be added to the center of the body in order to fit the chassis. Yay me. What's worse than a project of this magnitude? Redoing a project of this magnitude that was done incorrectly.

This is what I'm dealing with....

See the quality of the panel fabrication? the deck lid weighs about 200 pounds because it's almost solid fiberglass and bondo.

Here's the new cowl I made for it. You should've seen his version. It still gives me chills to think about it.

The passenger side fender support. I had to cut 2 1/2" out of the strut tower and then reinforce it so I could mount the fenders where they needed to be.

This is the finished fender support on the driver's side. This is structural steel. (14 gauge) I'll be able to mount the hood hinges without worrying about the inner fender folding. and it provides some extra protection in case of a front end collision.

I still have a LOOOOONG way to go, but I'm making progress.

Some folks and their bright ideas huh....like a 2000+ Expedition complete drive train w/motor and a 66 ish Bronco body. They even put the Exp dash cluster in the Bronco....

It looked like a car wreck that had all ready happened.

Don't tell me you are trying to heat that shop with that elec radiator heater? Or are you staying warm by running around like a chicken with its head cut off....yelling thunderstang! lol

As always your work looks awesome.

No, the electric radiator is to keep it above freezing while I'm not there. The actual heat comes from an 80K BTU propane heater. That makes it toasty in there in about 20 minutes .

And dang I just remembered I am out of kerosene in both 5 gal containers......I should get a propane set up, better burn rate and cleaner?

Pro Mud Truck Well I have a spare 460 BB to put in it but that is to much for a shell of a truck without at least some high dollar built axles under it.

IMO

Good Morning Everybody!

Rich. Today is out for helping the girl in Sedalia. But we could go tomorrow?

The blower is cool, but B&M sold their blower division to Weiand, so if it needs anything other than new teflon strips, it's scrap metal. Not to mention those carbs have been sitting for 15 years? I hope they were drained and dried properly, otherwise, those are trash too. "My G-Pa gave it to me and I know what it's worth." Yeah, you know what it was worth when it was on an engine 15 years ago. Even metal parts don't stay good forever. Those types of ads scare me. It may be an awesome deal if everything was put up properly, ...but it may be a giant loser, too. I'm not willing to take that gamble. I'd rather spend another $1,500 on a new one that I know is right.

I'm up and at 'em. I have a busy day planned, so I got after it early. I'm getting my second cup of coffee now and then I have to get out of here and see a guy about a wood stove for the shop.

Rich. The propane is DEFINITELY faster and cleaner than the kerosene. BUT it burns faster too. A barbecue grill tank lasts about 5 or 6 days. I can get one filled locally for $12.50, so that makes it reasonable to use. I also like the fact I can have it at 32 degrees, fire up the heater and it's 65 in there in 20 minutes without having my eyes burning. A wood stove would be better yet.
