C6 Tranny Specialist Sedalia

Need some long distance help in Sedalia, MO. I'm in New Mexico trying to help my daughter with a 1979 F100 302 C6 Auto. Tranny stuck in first. I have many ideas about it, but believe a simple fix. Hopin somebody might take a quick look at it for her, and let me know of its diagnosis.

Alan, how busy are you tomorrow am? I could meet you at I44 and 65 and roll north?

Maybe it is an easy fix?

I have an axle to do, then see a guy about a wood stove for the shop, then my great nephew's B-day party. We could go up Sunday if that's not too late.

That's a heck of a long way to Sedalia. I'll wait on someone from Sedalia, unless you're passing through

If the shifter seems to work properly and it'll go in park, I'm willing to bet the vacuum line popped off the modulator. It's easy to diagnose. Put it in first gear and start driving. About the time you think it should shift, manually put it in second gear. .....then run out second and go to third. If it upshifts with the lever, then there's no vacuum to the modulator. Just climb underneath the truck and put the vacuum line back on the modulator. That would be the most common thing to happen. A zip tie around the hose will keep it from popping off in he future.

plefe get the daughter on the phone and talk her thru how to ck what suggestions have been given. None of the checks are that hard to do, sorry I do not know of any FTE members in that area.
