I have a set of maniacal auto meter gauges I know I can tap oil pressure into the the stock location with a T but where would I tap in for the temp gauge and how does the amp meter wiring work?
Should be a sensor in the intake that measures coolant temp for the dash, find that and either figure out a T fitting for it or just put the mechanical gauge in its place. Amp meter just measures battery voltage so any electrical source that is fused and turns on and off with the key will work perfect for it.
The directions are not exactly make and model specific at all, Iv installed these gauges into tons of sbc and bbc cars and others just wondering where on these obs fords to hook them up
You can do it this way to keep both the oem gauge and the add-on gauge working at the same time. It works good in hot weather, but in cold weather you get abnormally cold readings. I have since put the add-on sender in the manifold (where the tee is) and the oem sender in one of the ports on the thermostat housing. Now as the truck warms up you can see the add-on gauge rise. Then when the thermostat opens up the oem gauge registers. I like the way it works now better than the tee.
As for the amp meter, don't use it. You really don't want ALL the juice running thru a little gauge in your dash. Trade it in for a voltage gauge. That way any 12V source makes the gauge work and it tells you what you need to know about the charging system and the state of the battery.
Yeah I figured that about the amp meter seems like a lot of wiring. I think I need some different adapters for my temp gauge fitting it came with seems pretty big. Where can I get a water neck with spots for stuff do the late 80s Windsors have them? For like temperature switches and ****
Just go to your favorite parts store and ask for one. Many applications have multiple ports like the one in my pic. And they aren't expensive. I don't remember how much that one was, but it was cheap.
