researching a new(er) navigator truck...

Hello!
i am currently driving a 96 bronco with 293,000 miles on it. while it still drives pretty well and has for the last 200,000 miles, except for a blower fan motor or cleaning the ground strap wires of even replacing an alternator, i am aware the road has to end at some point. Rust is starting to show up in places that are making me uncomfortable..

(i would love to see a range rover drive as reliable as this beast.)

1. i am partial to the 2003-2006 navigators. Before those years the truck looks too cartoony. after that, the truck looks like a pimp mobile with all the unneeded bling on it. i am a simple man. i don't think bling is my thing. i do like the nice creature comforts these truck provide, nice ride, quiet interior, plenty of room.. i am over six feet tall, so…

2. Which transmission would be the better choice? the 2004 or 2005 model? Ford switched it out between the four speed and the newer model from ZF.

3. i am not afraid to fix anything that breaks. (see first paragraph)

i am not going to get a new england truck as i already am driving one, so, i have to look down south and west. should i be concerned with the higher mileage navigators i am seeing?

any other input from the owners of these truck is greatly appreciated!

thanks!
Christopher

Advice

Stay away from the Rover. It looks like that you have well used and abused your ride. My suggestion go with something with less electronics. My take for you is a explorer, minimal electronics and reasonable priced.
Any back yard mechanic an fix a Ford! And you will not break the bank.
