1969 4x4 conversion

I'm usually over in the 87-96 forum but I have a 1969 f350 dump truck but it has a 1981 cab on it. I don't know who put that on it. But I was considering buying a 70s f250 (not to sure what year) but what I would do if I would buy this truck is take the axles from the parts truck and put them under my f350. Then I would use the transfer case and i believe it's a divorced ttransfer case so that shouldn't be to bad right? I made my 87 4x4 so I'm up for the challenge... what do you guys think?

If you're up to fabrication, in concept here's one way to do it. You'll need to find the other related articles...

1979 Ford F-150 - Three Link Suspension Conversion - 4Wheel & Off-Road Magazine

Personally, I'd opt to just buy a 4x4 from the beginning instead of spending all the time just to convert it to 4WD.

Lots of work ahead of you any way you do it. Whether it be swapping all the running gear from the 4x4 over to the f350 or swapping the dump truck body onto the 70's frame. Do you want to keep the 81 cab or are you wanting the 60's-70's body style? Personally I would buy the body style you want in a 4x4 version and swap the dump bed onto it and call it a day.

Personally I'd rather have the 60-70s body style but I think the body on the parts truck is beat up real good and I might be able to get this truck cheaper than a different one. I'm up for the work and fabrication I love this stuff and I'm only 15. And I'm very capable of doing it so that won't be an issue.

This truck was my first truck. I started working on it in 7th grade so I was like 11 or 12. It sat in my grandpa's field for 20 years and I got a new carb and fuel pump and it fired right up. The trucks been through alot. Fires. Bad clutch. All kinds of stuff. And some of the stuff I fabricate I would say is pretty good. I hate electronics of all sorts. I pretty much only use my phone for this website and to read about stuff for my trucks. And yes I pay for everything that goes into them with my own money. I don't get allowance either haha work for what you earn and earn what you work for

Nice collection you got started. Are you positive it's a 69 frame under there? The previous owners can say some crazy stuff sometimes when trying to sell. Or were misinformed themselves when they got it. If it's a true 69 frame then you might want to find a good donor 70's cab and or full donor truck in that case swapping the dump might be easier onto the 4x4. A dump bed bumpside 4x4 would be sweet.

From what I found out and understand from the parts I bought the combination of spark plugs and fuel pump and oil filter would only fit up on a 69. I measured widths and I'm pretty positive it is a 69. Just wish it had the original cab...
