Need advice on F-450 Price
A local Ford dealer that I have bought a couple of cars and my 99 SD from has a 2015 F-450 that was ordered then the guy backed out. Here's the particulars:
2015 F-450 CC
6.7 Liter Diesel
6 Spd Transmission
172" WB
White Platinum Tri-Paint
Platinum Level Package
Rapid Heat Supplemental Heater
Moon Roof
Up Fitter Switches
Dual Alternators
Heated Rear Seat
MSRP-$72630
Offered Price $68,000 +TTL
The trailer will be 44-50 feet longer tri-axle depending on if we use a toy hauler or just a RV trailer. Trailer weight 18,000+, Hitch weight 3,000+. I'm sure the truck will tow these trailers without a problem. my question is that a fair, good, high, steal price. Is it too much truck/ Would a 350 do the job??

Price don't really seem that far off base. However!!!!!!
Make sure you check your state laws and with your insurance company to prevent any surprises. The legislators here a few years ago has made it impossible for the average joe to put a truck this size on a personal policy. My 99' F-450 insurance alone costs more than the other 3 trucks in my signature combined. The largest thing that I can now have on a personal policy is an F-350. Not trying to scare or discourage you, just be prepared.
My insurance agent(unknowingly to me)put mine down as an F-350 and the DMV caught it and fined me and came to the house to remove the tags. Insurance co. got it straightened out.
I checked into rv insurance co's but I was informed by all of them that if the truck was on the road it had to have the rv attached...even just to run up the road to get fuel. These folks around here with "DMV Exempt/Recreational Vehicle" decals on their trucks are getting a rude awakening.
My toter-home was reclassified as a truck because it had a gooseneck/fifthwheel hitch. The insurance was so high that I sold it.
Your laws in Iowa may be better or worse. I try to enlighten folks whenever I can.
Good Luck, the New F-450's are nice!

I priced a new Platinum F450 to replace our '11 a month ago @ $66k+ TTL. I'd definitely want a 450 for that weight and trailer size. Ours is used as a car hauler with the trailer weighing in at 20k lbs. We're in a bind as the truck has 297k miles on it and I really wanted to wait for a '16..

In my opinion, that means the dealer is stuck with it. At least until the next guy comes along that wants a high dollar truck.

There's a reason most need to be ordered and you don't see them sitting on the lot. The market for them is pretty narrow. If it weren't there would be a whole line of them sitting on the lot with a constant turnover. Dealers, like anyone, stock what sells.
I agree about the price, I don't see it as any "good deal". The dealer now has a vehicle he will probably have a harder than usual time moving.

Yup. That's what I'd try if I were in the market for that sort of truck. As tgreening says, it's a narrow market. You generally don't see several F450's sitting on the lot to choose from. I would guess they'd be happy to get it off the lot even if it means a smaller profit than it would have generated from the person who originally ordered it.
