If you're looking to get the truck semi-reliable with the absolute lowest investment, then fine. But if I had bearings that messed up there's no way I'd put the same gears back in. Gears aren't that expensive compared to the effort to replace them. While it's apart I'd do it right.

Nothing special I hear ya on the gears but lime I said they have no funky wear patterns or hot spots or weird mess patterns. Gears will usually tell you when they need to be replaced.
