Been waiting here in the DC area for a new Black Platinum Expedition. Local dealers have a number of 2015s in stock, all levels but the Platinum. Could there be an availability issue with some unique component on the Platinum that is in short supply? thanks

 

I'm guessing it's more of market demand. 65-70K is alot to ask for most americans. Though the new 65K Yukons and Surburbans do seem to be flying off the lots.

 

I don't know. I see King Ranch models, virtually same price. Wondering if there is something Platinum-specific that's holding things up. thanks

 

Maybe they ran out of the ugly chrome strips they put all over it and the ugly chrome mirror covers???

 

LOL.... You mean the same mirror covers that have been available for years?


I'm pretty sure the put the additional small chrome piece on the bottom of the front grill to let the owners of the 2007-2014 models know as they look out their rear view mirror, that there is a better appointed, much more powerful vehicle behind them .

 

Maybe I'm missing something. Haven't seen a chrome mirror cover from the factory in years.

Not a lot of them around here to look at. Doing an auto trader search, there are only 9 for sale within 200 miles of me and they are all at the distant side of 200. Open it up to 500 miles and there are 26. Looks like some 13's have chrome, and all the 14's listed have chrome. Still just as ugly to me as they are on the platinum.

 

I just looked at a 2015 Platinum Saturday. I think the dealer had a couple of them. ( outa my price range )
The black one on the floor had the Eco Boost Engine. Wasn't worth the money for the package. 65k

I think the problem is the Brunelo interior, I'm just not seeing any/many online or at dealers. I see plenty of black regular length Platinum models with 2nd row captains chairs and self leveling suspension with black interiors, just none with the Brunelo interior. Geez...

 

I ordered mine at the end of September, still waiting. My dealer tells me it should be in by the end of Feb. I ordered a Silver EL with Brunello leather and the adaptive suspension. It will replace my 2012 EL limited. Here in Canada dealers have lots of Limiteds but no Platinums.

 

I would have liked the 22" wheels and new suspension but wanted the self leveling suspension more (when towing a trailer). I may buy a set of the new 22" wheels and have them chromed, but not sure how they would ride with the standard suspension. thanks

 

I bought my 2015 Black Platinum with 22s on Jan. 31, and I'm still waiting for the build to start . The dealer gave me a vin # but no sticker for it yet. Any ideas on how to find out where in the queue I am?

I picked mine up last month, almost 3k miles already. I ended up going with the 22" wheels (which I had PVD chromed), and glad I chose the 22 wheel / CCD option after driving it.


(edited, in full discloser I ordered mine with the rear self leveling suspension. Dealer called me and said "it's in" I drove down all excited and said it's not right, I ordered the 20" wheels and rear suspension. Left the dealer pi$$ed off that they ordered the wrong vehicle, drove 8 miles toward home, turned around and bought it. One of the greatest mistakes I've ever made.

The sun was low and bright, got some green grass reflection in the black paint, that or the multicolor flecks in the Tuxedo paint.
