Disabling Rain Sensor Wipers

Disabling Rain Sensor Wipers
My 2013 Expedition came with Rain Sensor Wipers. They drove me crazy. They ran rapid sometimes, other times they worked ok. I had no intermittent settings, only off, rain sensor, low & high. My 2008 Expedition had no rain sensor wipers. I liked that better. I went online to do some research to see if I could disable them. I found out that the sensor that controls the rain sensor wipers, is attached to the windshield next to the rear view mirror. I pulled the cover off the sensor, I saw that a plug was attached to the sensor. I disconnect the plug, tried the wipers, the intermittent wipers worked like my 2008. I got the hose, ran water on the windshield, rain sensor wipers no more. I snapped the cover back on with the wire tucked inside.

Good way to defeat one of those annoying features---good info to post!!
Typically those sorts of "conveniences" have a fail-safe feature that allows whatever to continue working if the triggering mechanism/sensor fails. I can't imagine trying to drive without wipers just because a lazy man's wiper switch stopped working.

Weird...different strokes for different folks.... My VW has them too and I love 'em. They go slow or stop when just sprinkling and swipe fast when raining hard. I wish I had them on my F250. Nice thing is tho...if I don't want them on, there is a position I can put them in the that makes them revert to standard WS wipers.
