Not seeing any major failures in the 6.7......
Have been watching this board since I bought my truck in 2012....... Back then I wanted the 6.7 but could not afford it or justify the cost for what I need.
Things are better for me financially and I am looking to make a deal this week. I am looking at a 2015 4x4 CC Platinum..... The pricing the dealer is offering is pretty insane and they are giving me a rough offer on my truck which will pay it off...... This has been done over the phone and swapping vin's and pics.
Anyway it sounds promising and I plan to visit the dealer this Friday to see if it happens.
Back to my point....... I have not really seen any major issues with these new engines..... I remember early on there were a handful of fuel system failures due to contamination but haven't seen another in some time.
I still see some radiator issues and I assume the '15s will have the same issue since it's the same radiator.
I also remember a while back about some engines dropping valves but that seems gone also.
So really it's just the typical EGT sensor failure and the radiator.
What else has been common with the later year 6.7's?

There have been a number of recurring sub system failures besides the radiator and EGT sensors.
DEF heater/level sender, trans front pump, and a few others.
My issue was that all of these failures occurred on my truck just slightly after the truck was a year old, but outside the mileage limit of the warranty and ford basically told me "tough luck".

Early ones (2011) had some valve failures.
It also took them a couple of years to get the transmission figured out.
Radiators on anything 2008 and up now are prone to failure due to the cheap way they are built.
My 2013 has been very good so far. It has not been back to the dealer since I bought 14 months ago.

If we're "piling on", I had an issue with a leaking brake vacuum pump, and found out I wasn't alone.
Also dealt with (and still have to address) the trans shift solenoids, my 2-3 needs replacing (I don't recall which one(s) they replaced last time....)
But again, I've got a job1 '11, we read/hear less and less issues with the '13+ trucks, tho to be fair, they are perhaps too new to get a good sample.
If that's the truck you want, go grab it

I think they have probably worked out most of the bugs by '15 and I am not sure what changes they will make for '16 and I don't wanna be the beta tester for a new truck. I also don't want to wait until '17 to buy one. Plus the deal they are offering me is pretty crazy if they hold true to their word when I show up on Friday.
If they stick to their quoted price I will be driving it home Friday afternoon!
I know that there are and will always be problems but I am mostly glad that the large catastrophic failures are very few and far between right now.
Small problems are here and there and some guys never have any issue at all....if I happen to have something go wrong....well hopefully Ford takes care of it under warranty.....I am also looking into an extended warranty plan as well but I think I may hold of on buying it until the factory warranty is almost up.

There certainly have been a fair amount of engine failures, particularly on '11-12 model year trucks with failed valves. I wouldn't say it's a common issue, but we've had a few on this forum have engine replacements as a result. Haven't heard of any recently, so I think the valve issue has been resolved in later years.
Otherwise they seem to be very reliable engines. I had an early-build '11 for about a year, and other than a turbo replacement it was good to me. Most have had excellent service from theirs, and I wouldn't hesitate to buy another one.

Your hearing lot of negative things here and yes, those folks with problems do indeed have engine issues, but here's the positive side of this motor. In 2011 job1 produced (est) 45,000 trucks. Job2 and upward till the 2012's produced
(est) 220,000 trucks=265,000 diesel 6.7 trucks for 2011. These numbers were given to me by a friend in an executive position with Ford. The problems that you hear of, on different forums are such a small percentage compared to actual sales and use. I myself have a job1 2011 with 50K miles and it's never had a motor issue, A/C issue once, but that's it. Would I buy another one, absolutely.
