Trade In Value for a 1994 Flareside????

I about to trade my F150 Flare side in. What do you think the fare trade-in value is for 1994 F150 XLT Lariat Flareside (born November 19, 1993) with 154k miles. It is an extended cab, 5.8l EFI (351) V8, auto transmission, 4X4, flare side, every option Ford offered with the exception of a auto dim rear view mirror. Not altered in any way except addition of a hard fiberglass tonneau cover. I'm the original owner with the window sticker and it has only been repaired by the Ford dealer. It's been my every day vehicle for 21 years. The clear coat is failing but the body is in excellent condition with only two chips on the hood. The chrome bumpers and original wheels are in great condition. Even the exhaust system, muffler, interior, radiator, and AC compressor are all original.

You're going to get the shaft from the dealer. You clearly have a love affair going with this truck. I personally think you should sell it yourself and pocket the $4k instead of letting the dealer right off $1500.00 on your purchase. Just my $.02

Depends on what you are buying. If you are trading it in on a 50 000 dollar new truck it will be a lot more than a 20 000 dollar vehicle. Good chance they don't really want a truck that is that old.

Yup, nothing but bad news on the trade in front. Trade in's are for 2-3 year old vehicles with very low mileage. Even then, actual value offered is likely not in your favour. Cash negotiation will likely produce the same net price as your trade will, so you end up virtuallly giving away your current vehicle.

Put 1/10th the money into your current ride and drive it another 100K.

Exactly. Sounds like a solid truck. I would keep it. Even if you're dead set on a new vehicle, you'd be better off keeping the current one just to fart around in, or sell it private instead of letting the dealership rob you of it.

Trade ins are the biggest scam going.

I don't work for a dealership, but from a business stand point it makes sense, they won't give you the actual value, that's insane, there a business and need to profit on the vehicle they took on trade, I'd just sell it yourself, that's my take anyway.

No matter what you are trading for you will do much better selling yours and dealing with cash. You shouldn't have much trouble selling yours if it is anything like you say.

I agree with each and every one of the responses. After driving this truck every day for 21 years “Old Trusty” hit the nail on the head. I have a love affair going on with this truck LOL. Bringing it to the dealer to learn my baby is ugly is going to hurt if only in my wallet. If I had the driveway real estate I could keep it with the delusion of restoring it to OUR prime. Unfortunately for the last 20 years there has been a 1970 MGB in the garage with the same death sentence. On the bright side I foresee, new to the universe, a restored truck that is actually worth more than the restoration cost.
