9% Grade (Video)
Sorry about the poor quality of this video, it's just hard holding a camera while pulling 15k up 2 mile winding 9% grade. Towing our 5er home after spending as much time at the lake as we could at our seasonal rv site, this return trip was early October. I have pulled up this hill every year since 2002.
I hade this temporary pressure gauge set up to monitor boost and the digital egt gauge. I ran it real hard as you can see the rpm's in the orange for most of the time. I just kept it in 3rd, I think i was working the old girl pretty hard. I noticed towards the end of the clime the boost psi gauge dropped below 10 after staying around 20 the rest of the time. I didn't notice a drop in power but i may have blown out an up pipe gasket or something IDK.

I did look for soot and noticed just a little near the top of one up pipe, I had new pipes put on when I did the clutch about four years ago. I'll have to look around the turbo. I don't think the boost came back where it was but I haven't pulled any more hills the 5er is parked till next year. The truck still seams to have good power though.

Yes I did have the exhaust cut out open, I always pull the 5er with it open. I can and have pulled the boat (5k) with it closed, no problems there can hardly tell it's there.
I am a little concerned about my stock fuel, it hasn't gave me any problems yet. Correct me if i am wrong but isn't the fuel system mods to insure good pressure and fuel delivery, is there a real (noticeable) gain in power?

I have had this truck since 2006 and no fuel leaks, the valley is dry (oh no i should not have said that). do you think i'm pushing the rpm limits when i pulled that hill in the video, i could have went higher but i didn't feel comfortable going into the red. It was the first time i have been able to pull that hill with out the egt's trying to go over the limits, so keeping the revs up did help with that. Am i at risk of dammaging the engine doing that ? I stayed in 3rd gear knowing that if i tried 4th egts would go up and i would slow down and then would have to down shift anyway.

I have to say one thing.
I had a new pump.no leaks and an in cab gauge and a shimmed regulator with 70 psi at idle.under a hard pull my gauge would dip to 30 psi.I was not running that length of time you are. I could deffinetly feel a difference in my buttodyno when I did e-fuel . now I have gotten a t500 from Glenn and I have to say for stock Injectors and turbo Clifford is running plenty strong.....but what is next lol
