99 explorer bauer. Front wheel bearing nut size?
Title says it all really.
99 explorer Eddie bauer.
Front wheel bearing nut size?
33mm?
Looking for a torque spec procedure but if anyone wants to chime in....I'd appreciate it.
Need to replace an abs sensor. Sensor alone was 120 bucks so just bought the whole hub assembly with sensor for $96.
Go figure.
Might just put the whole thing on.
Is there a good thread for a complete socket size portfolio on the explorers.
Thinking sizes over and above normal socket sizes found in your typical socket set?
Thanks friends.
Hope all is well in your world.

I did the front bearings on my '98 a while ago and I'm not finding a 33mm socket in the drawer, but I did find a 32 mm socket. If you're not a tool snob, get the impact socket from Lowe's. It was a few bucks cheaper than the Performance Tool socket at the local parts store. And it looked to be better made. The Performance Tool socket doesn't have the same thickness all the way around, whereas the Kobalt socket seemed more uniform. Does it matter? Probably not, but had I known this before I bought the Performance Tool part, I would have gotten the Kobalt. But, if you must have Snap On, don't let me stop you.
The axle nut is torqued to 157-213 ft-lb.
How did your ABS sensor fail? Mine failed because the bearing wore excessively, which allowed the gear inside the assembly to contact the sensor. So, if you pull the sensor and see rub marks, you'll know the bearing assembly is shot.
Assumption for all of the above is that the '98 and '99 are the same with regard to the front axle and bearing assembly.
