35" tires on unlifted E350?

Hi everyone. I have a 1985 clubwagon super 2wd. Stock tire size is 235/85-16. A few years back I put a Dana 70 with 3.73's out of a 70's E350 in it.

I am curious if 35 x12.50 16.5 tires would fit with the stock ride height? There is a guy selling some mounted BFGs with lots of tread left for $275. It seemed like a very good price.

The tread seems like it would be good for the type of driving I do in the van... More summer based on rough roads for river access.

Thanks for the help!

remove or trim the front fenders and space out your front bumper and they should fit. maybe keep a sledge ready for the rear wheel openings, you'll find the close spots quick. skinny 33s would fit but would probably rub in spots too.

sounds like a fun plan but you are going to be in for some butchery

Short answer is absolutely no. You could probably do a 31" tire on the front and 33" on the back unless you lift it a LOT and cut sheetmetal in the front. Then you could probably use 33's on front. This is assuming you still want the van to steer and not have severe contact when you hit bumps.

hate to tell you this but the 235/85/16 the owner mentioned that is stock is larger diameter than a 31" tire, they run 32" and pretty close to 33" by some manufacturers. just very narrow profile on the stock 6" with wheels.

wheelwells look stuffed with stock wheels/tires.

You're right, 68...I was being lazy and didn't go to my diameter/width calculator spreadsheet. I didn't recall Ford using tires that large on the earlier vans--the newer ones top out at 245/75x16 I think. But I think we both agree 12.5" wide and 35" is really huge....

Thanks for the feedback guys. I ended up keeping the stock tire sizes. They work fine for my purposes. Sometimes a little more flotation would be good, like this time of year the van likes to cut like a knife into the ground.
